What is palanca? PALANCA is the Spanish word for LEVER. We are lifting up the candidates to God with our prayers and actions, much like a lever, as we intercede on their behalf. The actual palanca is the action – intercessory prayer, sacrifice, or works of mercy – and palanca can be done without writing a letter. [Leaders’ Manual, p. 117]
What is a palanca letter? A “palanca letter” is one that is sent to the candidates and team, informing them of the prayers and sacrifices / mortifications that you are offering to God on their behalf. A letter may explain what type of palanca (whether it is intercessory prayer, sacrifice, or works of mercy) is being offered, but the letter is NOT the palanca. A note on a piece of paper or a greeting card does not constitute Palanca .

Prayer Warriors
Our Joliet Cursillo Movement has a large group of intercessors (also known as prayer warriors). These volunteers receive daily prayer requests for intentions through a subscription to our Constant Contact service. The intentions are submitted by our Fourth Day.
If you’d like to submit a prayer request, please click the link below to fill out the prayer request form. You may use first names only if you prefer to keep the request more private. However, if you’d like to use full names, that’s perfectly fine as well. The prayer requests are gathered throughout the day and usually sent out as a group of petitions the next day.

To sign up to be included as an intercessor, go to your Constant Contact profile by looking at any of our emails to you and at the very bottom, click MODIFY PROFILE – then “opt in” to the Prayer Warrior List and the URGENT Prayer Request list.
